Eventually, you confront Monika and make her undo the damage she has caused, before eventually reconciling with her. This character becomes aware that she is in a game and manipulates the code of the other characters so they became less likeable to you. Suddenly, however, about 90 minutes into the game, the characters start killing themselves and becoming more violent and aggressive, eventually leaving just Monika.
Once there, you try to win over the girls in attendance Monika (the club's president), Natsuki, Yuri, and of course Sayori. You play a young boy who, on the first day back at school, decides to join his friend's book club. The game plays with reality, by letting you alter its files and restart multiple times in ways that affect the narrative. But with little warning, it takes a drastic turn that results in the characters killing themselves. You attend your school's literature club and try to win over the girls there. This is kind of fun and is a poetry based mini-game where you need to mix the right words together to make a poem that will be well received by a member of the club.Doki Doki Literature Club (DDLC) is a psychological horror game in the form of a high school dating simulator. More Than Just A Story?Īs is the case with most other visual novel-style games, you do not have a ton of gameplay here (although the story certainly interacts with you) however, they have put in a mini-game. However, I will say that the first playthrough really is the most amazing as you are really not prepared for how the story in this game is. These will lead you to different outcomes and as a result, there is a fair bit of replay value here. The Choices You MakeĪs a visual novel style game, Doki Doki Literature Club has you make a few choices as you progress through the story. Only the protagonist is aware that this girl was ever alive! It is messed up stuff that thanks to the well-written story really does hit home. This is not the case at all and within a very short period of time, the story takes a very dark turn when one of the girls kills herself and the game restarts. This club is populated by four girls, four girls who all seem super happy and who have it all.
